Here is what CNN's Christine Romans suggests to do in order to come up with $500 by Christmas: Stop paying for things you don't use or need right now, check your mobile plan, eat in, make list of things you routinely spend on and cut % of them..., the full list is here

in response to Need_yeshua...   I was too guilty of thinking i "needed" so much and with me it was of corse, way to much make up,too many hair products, too many shoes.bounty paper towel, which i began to relize to my self " you really dont need all this stuff.do you realy need another purple eyeshadow???" like i said, in my first marrage i was very spoiled.with items, many vacations.but i was not spoiled with love.this time around i am.The Lord sent me a wonderfully loveing man.a man i had always prayed for.i feel he is my true husband ever and only.he worries alot about the next bill getting paid, but i tell him"dont worry God has always been there for me,and us,He will take care of us,just have complete undoubtfull faith and keep His love in your heart. He will take care of us. Yes i would be intrested in some advice,as you had mentioned on business.im an ontrapunewer, right now i have so many ideas of buisnesses id like to start, but realy dont have the capitol to start them up.i can start makeing some of my products very slowly over months, with maybe alittle money here and there.thank you for the reply,~LoveAndPeaceToYou~

in response to lunar*star...   I have to agree with you 100%.
People are programmed to think that 'we have to have certain items'.
We DO NOT 'have to have these items.
For millions of years, people did not have 'pampers' for their babies.
Now days, mothers act like they are about to die if they can't get some pampers. Oh please, for heavens sake!
Women in third world countries have babies & they don't have the luxury of pampers.
If we can no longer afford something (as hard as it may be) we have to go back to the old fashion way of doing things.
In America, our entire lifestyle is based on alot of 'luxuries'. Because these 'luxuries' have become so common place, we think they are 'needs'.
And yes, I am included in that bunch. My car was acting up the other day. It kept cutting off & making noise. Now, I was only going to the store just a few blocks away. I was beginning to freak out. And, my most pressing thought was 'who was going to see me in the neighborhood with my car making all this noise'.

        Now, isn't that stupid!!!!!
I mean of all things to be thinking about.
Gee, its good to be able to get from point A to point B. It does not really matter what the clunker may sound like.

I came to my senses. Many people have to walk every where they go. Of course, I would be messed up if I had to do that since I have back problems & trouble walking.

I realize that many of the things I have in life are just 'luxuries'; they are NOT needed to live. Such things include: computers, TV's, power, cable, internet services, cell phones, home phones, cars,etc-these are all luxuries. They are not needed to sustain life.
And, if one does not believe this; then when we don't have these things lets see if we 'die'.
*(Now, this excludes those that are on life support, breathing machines, or any medical machines needed for life support-of course they need power for these machines).

After realizing the above, it gives me a better perspective on life.

in response to lunar*star...   Its wonderful to hear about your smart shopping, and techniques you use.
We all can take helpful hints from time to time.
I can relate to the lack growing up, but as I become more wise. That wisdom comes from the Lord, and as I walk with HIM. I see my lack becomes less, and my blessings increase.
How? Because of placing my faith, my trust, and basically my life in his hands to do the lords work in my life by keeping HIM first.
He continues to bless my family.
I'm sorry to hear about your losses you spoke about.
If interested. I can give you fail proof prosperity tips on business.
Shalom, love, and blessing's to you friend.
        In Christ,
        Mike

        Poeple in america are and have been programed to think they need to spend so much money on things,its ridiculous,i have learned to make my own as much as possible and had to learn to think about what i realy dont need to live with,like take for an example a simple thing like napkins.the prefoled prepackaged kind.this is not a nessesary item.buy a cheap 3 pack roll of dollar general paper towels to use around the house,and like i do,take a few moments and fold a bunch of sheets into your own napkins.i have so many tips,i should right a book.i grew up very poor,when i was in my first marrage for 14 years i lived pretty well.now this time around i married a wonderfuly loving husband,when we lost our business,and with this terrible economy, it was time for me to get back in touch with my roots.we all need to.did the pioneers need paper towel even at all?no,they did just fine without it.i have many tips on how to make cheap excellent working homemade products,from household stuff to beauty.if anyone would like to learn more,visit me.im out of work so i have all this time on my hands somedays,id love to hear from poeple on here. :=}
